W o r d J u n k

Sporadic bursts of insanity.

Wordjunk

There can’t be glue

between the flier

and the wall

it sticks with an adhesive

all it’s own.

Read between the lines

see the words that have enraptured you

so

it’s like technicolor snow

doesn’t make sense

but you’ll watch it

anyways

I always knew you would

be the one to turn this

sentence around

talk your way out

of our final freedom.

This pen fits just like a glove

around your hand

a little tight

okay

We’ll start again

some other day.

Write this down so you

will never forget

the promises you make

the terror is inside you

but your love is much stronger

than all these cobwebs

holding up your corpse.

Wordjunk

falls back in the bin

again

and again

crimple crumple

rumple dump

Just another

writers slump

Keep telling yourself

this is what you want

Keep on going

no matter what.

Hold it together

and fuck this up.

The Flow of Ions

Forever twisting
out into
void, dead air
worming like spores
upon a nebulous zephyr
asking questions
to human kind,
many that shall go unanswered.

The inescapable reach
of our feeble minds,
fumble dumbly
into cavernous space
probing with inquisitive
yet arrogant fingers
prodding away at the things
we think make this tick.

This clockwork sphere
this amorphous black abyss
we will keep on with it’s riddles
: How many quarks are in a nucleus?
: What are their purpose?
: Why should your meaty mind matter in the shadow of colossi
and surrounded by tiny microbes in infinite quantity?

A troll, a gatekeeper
rolling out enigma
after enigma
incapable of carrying on.
Endless and vast, the knowledge is already inherit
and we are but tiny vessels
incapable of holding one drop
of its behemoth size.

The flow of ions
sweeping through your hair
static waves
crashing into patterns
left markedly by the echoes of synaptic pops
surging through the brain
your veins.
—This is wisdom
this is intellect
this is what will kill us all
and will save us
what will bare despair
and will hope.
It will fade away
bleeding into eons
and ages dark,
darker, still
until Cronos comes ‘round
to reclaim his bumptious children.

While our hands shiver out into black
and our mouths gibber for the answer
we avert our eyes from the mirror of time
for we know what pathetic image
it does hold.

Literary Analysis of “Shut Up Woman Get On My Horse”

The symbolism and literary devices present in “Get On My Horse”  may not be readily apparent.  Indeed they are veiled by a thick slab of innuendo - however upon closer examination one will see that this “innuendo” is actually a powerful message of an oppressive, male-dominated society.

Firstly if you haven’t watched the video…please do so now:

(prob NSFW) http://www.getonmyhorse.com/

We shall dissect this piece line at a time (heh…that rhymed) starting with “Look at my horse - my horse is amazing.  Give it a lick.  Mmm, it tastes just like raisins!”  The fellows horse obviously represents male virility in its most purest form.  Performance, strength, endurance, the spirit to forge ahead and win.  The declaration that this horse is “amazing” shows man’s arrogance of the world he has created - while at the same time his horse is depicted as something demented and vile.  The irony here illustrates a crookedness in mans thought and a discordance between his different cultures and mores.  For instance man may believe his achievements are great - but they fall short in comparison to its failures (i.e. slavery, oppression of women, holocaust, etc.).  When the girl replies that it tastes just like raisins - it reaffirms this analysis as raisins represent a sort of dried out, sour attitude and nature.  The horse (or mankind) may taste amazing and sweet to the man - but to the woman it is sour and shriveled.

“With a stroke of it’s mane it turns into a plane, and it turns back again when you tug on it’s winky.”   The stroking of the mane and transformation into a plane represents mans desire to industrialize and innovate at the expense of the natural world - he is looking out only for his own good and self benefit.  It mirrors the capitalist society which is so tied to a machoness and self-determined greed.  It’s transformation back in exchange for masturbation relates to mans easily sold-out nature and his weakness of seduction - not only to women - but to power.  When the girl replies “Ew that’s dirty!”  she is crying out against the disgusting, self-absorbed attitude of man.  The man on the horse retorts: “Do you think so?  Well I better not tell you where the lemonade is made!  Mm, sweet lemonade…”   This is enigmatic - but the sexual reference is clear.  The man on the horse defeats the woman’s desire to break away from dependence on man with his assertion that man-kinds seed must be passed on.  This implies that women are merely tools, or objects, to reproduce and bring man sons to continue the cycle of society of men have forged.

When the man commands the woman to get on his horse and “take [her] ‘round the universe and all the other places too,”  He is referring to the curiosity of man and his desire to break into new frontiers - the final of course being space (according to James T. Kirk).  This of course shows the male tendency to expand outward and conquer others (namely here the woman) with his influence - without any intention of bending his own opinions but rather coerce his own ideals onto others.  Rather than exploring his inner-space and bettering himself, he sees the world as something to be changed in his perception of “better” — this of course is product of his own arrogance as referenced earlier.  The girl refutes this with the fact that “you’ll find that the universe pretty much covers everything.”  She is remarking on the futility of man to change everything to his image for there are things that transcend man and each man has his own vision.  Thus there will always be someone to take his place as king and he will never be truly fulfilled until he realizes the final frontier lies in his own phobias and psyche.

Finally, and however, the piece ends in a rather pessimistic and even ominous tone, with mans dense and redundant attitude exemplified through the final phrase “shut up women get on my horse!” which I think pretty much speaks for itself.

In Progress

This is an outline for a short story I’m working on based loosely around the play Hamlet by Shakespeare.  It could end up being longer - but for practical purposes I’m starting it out as a short story.  This is only one section of the Outline.  I may post excerpts of the story once I begin actually writing it.  And yes, I know, my outlining skills are sketchy at best - but it’s organized - whatever.

II. Exposition
A. He sits up at night staring at the gun, arguing with himself on whether he’ll use it.       a. He has a flashback to an arguement he had with his step-father over a play the young man had written.
b. The play details the murder of a kind, affluent, father with a happy family who is poisoned by his friend - who then marries the father’s wife.
c.  The arguement becomes heated and the young man eyes a knife nearby - fantasizing about slaughtering his step-dad with it , but is reluctant to do the deed when his step-father insists he is mad and seek psycho-analysis then leaves the young man there alone.

B.  back to the present; the young-man imagines his father has manifested on the sofa across from him and believes his father wants him to avenge his death.  We do not know if this is really an apparition or a figment of his mind - but we can assume there is some inner turmoil at work within the young man.

a.  father reminds him of the evidence against the step-father (young man already knows much of this)

- motive

- father’s friend had connections to the mob and was entitled to his father’s patent/business if something were to happen to him.

- father died from what they believed was a heart-attack

- coroner/forensics found traces of a poisonous chemical on autopsy but they were payed to keep silent.

- possible affair between friend and father’s wife.

b. Young man struggles with reality of situation and tries to answer the question why he really didn’t kill his step-dad when he had the chance. He also cannot prove his step-father is guilty to the court because the system is corrupt and most of the evidence destroyed.

c.  Young man is afraid he would become no better than his step-father if he killed him - and realizes that his father does not want his son to avenge him - but the son does.  The son positions this feeling on his father because he loved him so much and could have convinced himself anyone who reasoned to kill his father deserved to die - and that’s what his father would want.

d. the apparition of his father disappears telling his son that if he does not kill his step dad and prove he was guilty - then justice is lost, and he would still be guilty of doing nothing when knowing the truth.

Creatures of Paradox — a poem

Just as how
I want to blame you
and the way I feel for you:
tingly,
annoyed,
endeared —
so your desire shall steer
you to places dark
and frightening
against the will of your
conscience.

As rational as
your human mind can be
the emotions are what
screw your brain over
and make us feel
angry
and in love
at once.

Yes men are
paradoxes
walking upright
on this earth
looking for purpose
and finding none.

From once we can stand
on both hankering legs
we set out
on futile odysseys
in search of fulfillment
to seek and destroy
the languishing feeling of
remorse, yearning,
the infernal burning
that lays deep in our hearts
crying out for…
what?

Someone.

Something.

But the wind will reply nothing.

And yet they would follow it aimlessly
believing they are walking
a destined course
laid out by
The Fates
when inside
their hearts they know
the zephyrs
are really random and terrific storms
raging not only upon the flesh
but in their chests.

The scorching winds
blind their knowing eyes
and even the greatest minds
are marred by misunderstanding,
misgiving,
temptation
lies.

The trick is not to seek
but rather make
a path,
to cut one.
Learn from the mistake
do not partake
in it a second time.

And to you
as to why
each choice you make
seems wrong
the answer…
may seem bitter.

Do you still want to hear?
then come nearer.
Listen close.
You can hear it —
feel it
in you
if you listen and wait long
and hard enough.

For those that would choose love
and choose again
only to fall —
they are blessed
and have done no wrong
I say let them love on
— but for those who choose the same love
twice,
thrice
and fall and fail
to conquer confusion
to eek understanding
from a distorted soul
time and again,
then those are as repellents
no matter the attraction,
or infatuation.
Those souls are
beyond understanding…

two magnets forced
into amalgam
must inevitably
fall back
and away.

But I suppose
the hope lies in the idea
that eventually someone shall
soothe the storms
that rage around us
quell the rain clouds
above our heads—
will click and stick,
and we shall see ourselves
in them
and they shall look back at us
as pellucid mirrors
into their own eyes
and both then realize
where the truth
doth lie.
